Henry was 16 years old when he left his new bike chained to this tree outside his house. As part of the draft, he was sent to France on June 19th, 1918 to enter the war. Fresh into his teens he fought for his country on foreign soil. And on foreign soil he died. Henry McConnell died at the age of 16 fighting a war that he should never have been involved in. Today the only evidence of his existence is in draft records and his bike still chained to this tree.
